A woman has been arrested after reportedly concealing razor blades inside loaves of bread at two Walmart locations in Biloxi, Mississippi. Camille Benson, 33, a resident of Texas, faces an attempted mayhem charge, with a bond set at $100,000.
Public information officer Lt. Candace Young of the Biloxi Police Department confirmed that shoppers discovered the blades at a Walmart Supercenter and a Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Store employees first learned of the issue when a customer alerted them to a blade found in a loaf purchased from the Supercenter on December 5. On December 8, another customer reported finding a razor blade in a loaf bought at the Neighborhood Market.
After a third customer raised concerns at the Supercenter on Sunday, staff conducted a sweep of the affected merchandise and located several additional loaves that had been tampered with. Law enforcement was notified the following day.
In a press release, the Biloxi Police Department urged everyone who purchased bread from the two Walmart locations to inspect their loaves and report any suspicious findings.
Walmart issued a statement emphasizing that customer health and safety are a top priority. The company noted that all potentially affected products at the Biloxi stores have been removed and thoroughly inspected, and it thanked police for their prompt action while promising continued cooperation with investigators.
Authorities do not believe other stores were targeted.
Walmart’s guidance to customers who discover tampering is to discard the product immediately and seek a full refund at their local Walmart.
