The theatre has been given a modern facelift and a new name, opening its doors to a diverse range of events. From captivating art exhibitions to lively performances during the Weymouth Folk Festival, the venue is buzzing with creativity.
A Community Hub:
Despite the recent changes, the Weymouth Drama Club remains at the heart of this theatre's story. They continue to produce and perform throughout the year, showcasing their passion and talent. With an impressive 45 active adult members and 35 young, enthusiastic juniors, the club is a powerhouse of creativity.
A Year of Laughter and Drama:
The club's annual lineup is a testament to their versatility. From hilarious comedies that leave audiences in stitches to thought-provoking dramas and beloved family favorites, there's something for every taste. Last year, they delighted audiences with productions like Abigail's Party, Dracula, and the intriguing Accidental Death of an Anarchist.
This Year's Highlights:
2023 promises to be just as memorable. The schedule includes the festive Robin Hood – A Pantomime, the empowering all-women play Deckchairs, the classic TV adaptation The Good Life, and the captivating Someone Who'll Watch Over Me. And that's just the beginning!
A Club for All:
The Weymouth Drama Club is not just about the main stage. Their 'Curtain Raiser' section, comprising three groups of young stars aged 7-16, is a powerhouse in its own right. These talented youngsters recently performed Early Man and are now gearing up for the regional festival.
