Attention all sports enthusiasts on the Isle of Man! It's time to shine a spotlight on our incredible athletes and their remarkable achievements. The annual sporting achievements celebration is calling for nominations, and we want to ensure every deserving individual gets the recognition they deserve.
But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, where opinions might differ. The 2025 awards encompass 12 diverse categories, from the prestigious Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year to the inspiring Lifetime Achievement and the Leonie Cooil Courage & Inspiration Award. Each category celebrates a unique aspect of our sporting community, and it's up to us to decide who deserves the top honours.
Last year, the ceremony witnessed the triumph of cyclist Mark Cavendish and equestrian star Yasmin Ingham, but who will take the stage this time? It's time to put forward your nominations and celebrate the talent, passion, and support that define our sporting community.
And this is the part most people miss: it's not just about the athletes. Isle of Man Sport's CEO, Andy Varnom, emphasizes that these awards also recognize "the people who stand beside them every step of the way." So, whether you're nominating a coach, administrator, or a team, your voice matters.
The online nominations window is open until 14 December, and here are the categories to consider:
- Isle of Man Sports Ambassador
- Under-21 Sportsman of the Year
- Under-21 Sportswoman of the Year
- Disability Sportsperson of the Year
- Veteran Sportsperson of the Year
- Sports Administrator of the Year
- Sports Coach of the Year
- Sports Team of the Year
- Lifetime Achievement
- The Leonie Cooil Courage & Inspiration Award
Remember, to be eligible, nominees must be Manx or have resided on the Isle of Man for at least two years.
So, who do you think deserves the spotlight this year? Share your thoughts and let's celebrate the incredible sporting achievements of our island!
