Ice Chips: Tkachuk and Sanderson Expected to Return as Senators Resume NHL Play After Olympic Hiatus

Ottawa Senators

According to Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia, the Ottawa Senators will welcome back captain Brady Tkachuk and defenseman Jake Sanderson to the lineup when they face the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday, following their Olympic break.

Tkachuk and Sanderson recently claimed the gold medal for the United States in men's hockey at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics, with Tkachuk scoring three goals and five points in six games and Sanderson contributing two assists.

The Senators also recalled defenseman Carter Yakemchuk, forwards Tyler Boucher and Stephen Halliday from the AHL's Belleville Senators on Monday.

Carter Yakemchuk, drafted 7th overall by the Senators in 2024, has accumulated seven goals and 25 points in 41 AHL games this season. Tyler Boucher, drafted 10th overall in 2021, has six goals and 16 points in 29 games with Belleville this season. Stephen Halliday, who has played 25 games in Ottawa this season, has four goals and 11 points.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks made emergency roster moves, recalling goaltender Nikita Tolopilo from the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks and assigning Aku Koskenvuo to Abbotsford on Monday.

Nikita Tolopilo, 25, has a 3-3-1 record with a .910 save percentage and 3.04 goals-against average in seven games for Vancouver this year. In the AHL, he has an 8-8-3 record with an .897 save percentage and 3.07 GAA.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets recalled goaltender Domenic DiVincentiis from the AHL's Manitoba Moose as they await the return of Connor Hellebuyck from the Olympics. Domenic DiVincentiis, 21, has a 10-12-2 record with a .906 save percentage and 2.77 goals-against average in the AHL this season.

Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres will be without forward Zach Benson for their three-game road trip following the Olympic break, due to an upper-body injury and a lingering shoulder issue. Zach Benson, 20, missed the team's final two games before the break with an upper-body injury. He has seven goals and 26 points in 42 games this season.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings recalled forwards Dominik Shine and Sheldon Dries from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday under emergency conditions. Dominik Shine has 21 goals and 36 points in 37 AHL games, while Sheldon Dries has 18 goals and 34 points in 42 AHL games.

Nashville Predators

The Predators signed forward Jake Lucchini to a one-year, two-way contract extension on Monday. Jake Lucchini, 30, has 13 goals and 38 points in 48 games with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals this season.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins recalled forward Avery Hayes from the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Monday. Avery Hayes, 5'10, has 19 goals and 30 points in 36 AHL games this season.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks activated forward Ryan Reaves off injured reserve on Monday. Ryan Reaves, 39, missed the team's 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on February 4 with an upper-body injury. He has three goals and 32 penalty minutes in 46 games this season.

Washington Capitals

The Capitals activated goaltender Charlie Lindgren from injured reserve and assigned Garin Bjorklund to the AHL's Hershey Bears. Charlie Lindgren, 32, missed the team's final four games before the Olympic break with a lower-body injury. He has an 8-6-3 record with an .884 save percentage and 3.37 goals-against average this season.
