Get ready for an exciting transfer news story! Lyndon Dykes, the Scottish international striker, has joined Charlton Athletic, and we're thrilled to welcome him to the Addicks family.
In a highly competitive market, Dykes has chosen to join us for the 2025/26 season, becoming our second signing of the week after the arrival of defender Harry Clarke. This move is a significant boost to our striking options, and we're excited to see what he brings to the team.
Managing Director James Rodwell emphasized the importance of adding Championship experience to our squad, stating, "Lyndon's track record speaks for itself. With over 150 Championship appearances, he's proven his worth in this league. We're confident he'll make an impact and strengthen our attack."
Manager Nathan Jones echoed these sentiments, adding, "Lyndon is a powerful striker with a great work ethic. His goal-scoring abilities and Championship experience make him a valuable asset. We're delighted to have him on board and can't wait to see him in action."
Dykes himself expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I'm thrilled to join Charlton. It's an exciting opportunity for me and my family. I believe we can achieve great things together, and I can't wait to get started."
Born and raised in the sunny Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, Dykes's journey began with local clubs Mudgeeraba, Merrimac, and Redlands United. He then moved to Gold Coast City and Surfers Paradise Apollo before making a permanent switch to Queen of the South in 2016. During his time in Scotland, he impressed with 23 goals and 34 assists in 136 games, earning a move to Livingston in the Scottish Premiership.
After topping the scoring charts in his debut season with Livingston, Dykes joined Queens Park Rangers in 2020. He spent four successful years in west London, scoring 37 goals and registering 12 assists. His performances earned him regular call-ups to the Scotland national team, for whom he has now earned 48 caps and scored 10 goals.
In August 2024, Dykes joined Birmingham City, helping them win the Sky Bet League One title in his first season. He has since featured 23 times for the Blues this term.
Now, he's ready to make his mark at The Valley. Join us this Saturday as we take on Sheffield United. Get your tickets now and be part of the excitement! (https://booking.cafc.co.uk/en-GB/categories/Home%20Games)
