Another previewed film, Sony's 'Anaconda', a meta-reboot with a $45 million budget, generated $2.1 million from 2,808 theaters. The PG-13 adventure is expected to secure around $20 million between Thursday and Sunday. Focus Features' 'Song Sung Blue', a feel-good musical drama directed by Brewer, didn't report Wednesday previews yet is projected to earn $10 million to $14 million from 2,400 theaters in its first weekend. The film stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in a true story about musicians forming a Neil Diamond tribute band, offering a heartwarming tale for audiences.
In second place on Wednesday charts, Disney's animated hit 'Zootopia 2' outpaced the newcomers with $3.2 million from 3,540 cinemas. Since its Thanksgiving debut, the PG film has generated an impressive $296 million domestically and $1.3 billion globally, solidifying its status as the highest-grossing Hollywood release of the year.
